The road to clean energy: Policy coherence and convergence of actions key to a just transition

The Good and Decent Jobs, Skills, and Entrepreneurship for a Just Energy Transition Workshop gathered over 80 representatives from governments, enterprises, workers, financial institutions and development partners to discuss the future of work for a clean energy and just transition with a panel of experts. The workshop is part of the Asia Clean Energy Forum 2017.

World green economy leaders look for ways to spark a new green revolution

Leading economists, CEOs, ministers, heads of UN agencies and high-level representatives from nongovernmental organizations meet in Berlin to boost the green economy and set a path to the 2030 Agenda. Countries have donated close to €15 million so far while Uruguay and Guyana have joined the Partnership for Action on Green Economy.

Livelihood at the forefront of recovery
Spotlight on Cooperation during the Culminating Event “Strengthening Partnerships: Livelihood at the Forefront of Recovery Following Haiyan”
The culminating event brought together ILO partners who shared experiences and lessons learnt during the Haiyan response. They also showcased decent work practices, including social protection, and promoted the principle that livelihood support should be at the forefront of post-disaster relief, recovery and development.

The Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO), Mr Juan Somavia, warned that “dark clouds” are gathering again in Asia, even as growth rebounds and investment is flowing back. Asia’s economy is more open than ever before but with the risk of the global economy slipping into a double-dip recession, this openness has positive as well as negative implications.
