This course explores the competencies needed for the execution of socially and environmentally responsible procurement, while upholding the principle of value for money (VFM). It explains the process of developing sustainable procurement plans at national or organizational levels, their contents and targets. At procurement implementation level, the course explains how social and environmental parameters can best be integrated at the appropriate stage of the procurement process in a legally-compliant manner, and how the use of life cycle costing can effectively and efficiently contribute to achieving sustainability.
