  4. US Department of State Trafficking in Persons Report

    The 10th annual Trafficking in Persons Report outlines the continuing challenges across the globe, including in the United States, for the first time. This year’s report highlights several key trends, including the suffering of women and children in involuntary domestic servitude, the challenges and successes in identifying and protecting victims. The Department of State prepared this report using information from U.S. embassies, government officials, NGOs and international organizations, published reports, research trips to every region.

  6. Monitoring Indigenous and Tribal Peoples’ Rights through ILO Conventions _ A compilation of ILO Supervisory Bodies’ Comments 2009-2010

    The implementation of all ILO Conventions is monitored by the ILO supervisory bodies. This allows a continuous dialogue to take place between the Organization and the Governments concerned with the involvement of employers’ and workers’ organizations (trade unions), with a view to strengthening the implementation of these Conventions. The aim of the present publication is to present some of the most recent comments adopted by the ILO supervisory bodies concerning indigenous and tribal peoples. They are preceded by a brief introduction to the ILO supervisory mechanisms.

  7. Domestic work is not for children

    Last November, the Government of Cambodia convened a national consultation on decent work for domestic workers. At the end of the meeting, government, workers’ and employers’ organizations in the country agreed on the need for a new international labour standard extending social protection to those who work in the homes of others. The following article by Bill Salter, Director of the ILO Subregional Office for East Asia, was adapted from an earlier version published in a local newspaper.
