Public Employment Initiatives and the COVID-19 crisis

A compendium of Infrastructure Stimulus, Public Employment Programs (PEP), Public Works programs case studies

This document presents thirteen selected international experiences of Public Employment Programs or stimulus schemes and highlight the diverse shapes these programmes take in different contexts and part of the world. These cases were developed to support the ILO course “Designing Public Employment Programmes for A Sustainable Recovery” and the focus is on programmes that were planned, put in place or expanded in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Some additional programmes with potential for learning or scaling up have also been included. The criteria and process for the selection is also presented within.
