COPAC held its 77th Annual Board Meeting in Geneva

The Committee for the Promotion and Advancement of Cooperatives (COPAC) held its 77th Annual Board Meeting in Geneva on April 5, 2018.

Currently led by the ILO, the Committee started its discussion by assessing the progress of the work on statistics of cooperatives. They agreed on the need for communicating the emerging guidelines and other key materials on statistics of cooperatives with national statistical offices, Ministries of Labour, workers’ and employers’ organizations as well as the cooperative movement. They also noted that the other relevant materials on statistics of cooperatives from the ILO and COPAC are also important to disseminate prior to the 20th International Conference of Labour Statisticians (ICLS).

The Committee members further discussed the 2018 - 2020 workplan including the activities around the International Day of Cooperatives as linked with the High Level Political Forum (HLPF), the COPAC brief series on cooperatives and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and follow up work on statistics of cooperatives as linked to the SDGs. It was agreed that actions would be taken to extend invitations to potential new members. The Committee will continue its monthly consultations virtually till the next meeting of the COPAC Board in April 2019 in Geneva.
