The government, worker and employer delegates at the 100th annual Conference of the International Labour Organization (ILO) on Thursday, 16 June adopted a historic set of international standards aimed at improving the working conditions of tens of millions of domestic workers worldwide.

Singapore has ratified the International Labour Organization’s (ILO) Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 (MLC, 2006) with the full support of tripartite partners – the seafarer unions and the National Trades Union Congress, as well as the maritime industry and the Singapore National Employers Federation.

The Director of the International Labour Standards Department, Ms Cleopatra Doumbia-Henry, received the instrument of ratification of the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 (MLC, 2006) from Ms Memouna Kora Zaki Leadi, Minister of Labour and Public Administration of Benin. Benin is the second African country, after Liberia, to ratify the landmark Maritime Labour Convention, 2006.
