Images of the gender role in two ILO projects (in Asia and Africa) (VHS PAL)

A video illustrates two different approaches to development projects: a women-specific project in Uganda and a project with a women's component in Nepal. Included is the video guidelines.

Date issued: 31 December 1992

PAL version also available in French The video paints portraits of women as workers, wives, mothers, daughters and members of communities. Images introduce the viewer to women and men who speak frankly about their troubles, triumphs and hopes as they work towards equality. Their stories take place in two development projects of the International Labour Office:

  • In Uganda, a workers’ education project designed only for women teaches women how to bargain for their rights in a trade union.
  • In Nepal, women and men work together to learn income-generating skills in a rural training project.
