• A new chance at employment for Syrian refugees in Jordan

    Syrians forced to leave their country because of the war, now living in refugee camps in Jordan, have a new chance at employment. It's thanks to a job fair at an ILO employment centre for refugees, funded by the European Union.

    Rural women need equality now

    United Nations Headquarters, New York

    ILO Director of Sectoral Policies, Alette van Leur, has called for urgent action to overcome the hurdles rural women face in the world of work. She was speaking during the 62nd session of the Commission on the Status of Women at United Nations headquarters in New York, where the ILO is hosting, on March 16, a panel discussion on gender equality and decent work for rural women.

    Our impact, their voices

    Kinofelis, a public works programme in Greece, has helped some 45,000 beneficiaries find a job, giving new hope to communities in the crisis-shaken country. The ILO was asked by the European Commission to improve the programme by focusing on skills, social protection and the payment of the minimum wage.
