A panel discussion on promoting employment in China during the financial crisis, provided examples of Global Jobs Pact implementation at the local level. The delegation consisted of Wang Yadong, Deputy Director-General of the Employment Promotion Department at China's Ministry of Human Resource and Social Security (MOHRSS), together with his social partners from the All-China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU), represented by its Director-General, Jiang Guangping, and the China Enterprise Confederation (CEC), represented by Li Jianming.

The International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) and ILO/ACTRAV hosted a panel discussion to launch the book: "Don't waste the crisis - critical perspectives for a new economic model". The panel discussion was chaired by Frank Hoffer, ILO ACTRAV, with speakers including John Evans, General Secretary TUAC, Raymond Torres, Director, ILO/IILS, Nicolas Pons-Vignon, Editor, University of the Witwatersrand, and Dan Cunniah, Director of ILO/ACTRAV.

Professor John Ruggie, Special Representative of the UN Secretary General gives a presentation on human rights and transnational corporations and other business enterprises. His “protect, respect and remedy” framework lays the foundations of a system for better managing business and human rights challenges based on distinct yet complementary responsibilities for States and corporations and effective remedy in case of abuse. At the invitation of the Multinational Enterprises Subcommittee of the Governing Body, Professor Ruggie shares insights on further steps towards putting into operation and promoting the framework, and implications for the ILO.
