Prepared by the ILO Programme on HIV/AIDS in the World of Work, the study provides the most comprehensive data to date on the impact of AIDS in the working world, with extensive data and analysis for the most affected regions of the world.

   The Governing Body of the International Labour Office (ILO) elected Philippe Séguin, government delegate of France, as Chairman for its 2004-2005 Session and heard a report on the ILO's role in promoting a fair globalization.

2. 92nd annual Conference of the ILO concludes its work Delegates debate action to make globalization fair, adopt plan of action for migrant workers

   The 92nd annual Conference of the International Labour Organization (ILO) concluded its work today following an extensive and constructive debate on the social dimension of globalization, as well as the adoption of a new plan of action designed to provide a fair deal for the world's migrant workers.

   The annual Conference of the International Labour Organization (ILO) today adopted a new plan designed to provide a fair deal for some 86 million migrant workers in the global economy.

4. ILO Conference moves to improve safety, working conditions in fishing sector

   The ILO Committee on Work in the Fishing Sector concluded preliminary discussions today aimed at establishing new international legal instruments revising existing ILO standards (five Conventions and two Recommendations - Note 1) adopted between 1920 and 1966.

   World Day Against Child Labour: New ILO report highlights plight of children in domestic labour

   Child domestic labour is a widespread and growing global phenomenon that traps as many as ten million children or more - mostly girls - in hidden forms of exploitation, often involving abuse, health risks and violence, according to a new report issued today by the International Labour Office (ILO).

6. President of the Government of Spain addresses 92nd ILO Conference: Calls for "a globalization process with a social dimension"

   In his first address to a United Nations organization since becoming President of the Government of Spain, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero today stressed the importance of giving a "social dimension to globalization" and establishing decent work as a universal goal.

   The International Labour Organization (ILO) faces a "defining moment" in its quest for a fair globalization, Director-General Juan Somavia said today in an address to tripartite delegates representing 177 member States at the 92nd International Labour Conference.
