   Kyoto (ILO News): The Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO), Mr Juan Somavia, warned that “dark clouds” are gathering again in Asia, even as growth rebounds and investment is flowing back. Asia’s economy is more open than ever before but with the risk of the global economy slipping into a double-dip recession, this openness has positive as well as negative implications.

3. ILO Director-General praises Japan's commitment to decent work, says efforts to solve global economic crisis must put people first

   Kyoto (ILO News): The Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO), Mr Juan Somavia, praised Japan's commitment to creating decent work opportunities for women, men and young people, and called on the country to continue to use its voice in the G-20 to support more concerted international action to put the creation of jobs at the centre of efforts to solve the global economic crisis.

4. ILO Regional Meeting to focus on employment, economic and social vulnerabilities in Asia, the Pacific

   Kyoto (ILO News): Government ministers, representatives of workers' and employers' organizations, and academics from about 40 countries in Asia, the Pacific and the Arab States will be gathering in Kyoto, Japan to discuss how employment, economic and social progress can be safeguarded in the face of the uncertain global economic outlook.

   ILO launches first global business and disability website

   The ILO has taken a major step toward promoting the inclusion of people with disabilities in the workplace with the launch of a pioneering new global knowledge sharing platform linking scores of multinational enterprises and organizations representing employers and networks of people with disabilities.

   ILO sets the tone at the 16th International Conference on AIDS and STIs in Africa (ICASA)

   The International Labour Organization (ILO) is organizing and participating in a series of events to highlight the importance of reducing stigma and discrimination in the workplace at ICASA, which opens Sunday, 4 December, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia under the theme “Own, Scale-up and Sustain”.

   Global South-South Development Expo 2011: ILO Solution Exchange Forum on social protection, decent work and food security

   10th anniversary of the Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation between the ILO and the Ministry of Labour and Social Security of China

   In 2001 China's Ministry of Labour and Social Security signed a memorandum of understanding with the International Labour Organization (ILO) launching a programme of cooperation based on the ILO's Decent Work agenda to support national reform in China and social progress worldwide. Ten years after its adoption, the 6th Joint Committee review took place in Beijing from 28 November to 1 December 2011.

   Rio+20: ILO's input to the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development

   The International Labour Organization (ILO) is involved in the preparations for the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD), also known as Rio+20, which will take place from 20-22 June 2012 in Brazil.

   Kuwait contributes US$500,000 to promote decent work in the occupied Palestinian territory
