   An International Labour Organization (ILO) Forum opened a three-day session in Lisbon to provide a broad social platform for discussing the forging of a new movement for promoting decent work and a fair globalization.

   In the face of an increasingly turbulent and imbalanced global economy, representatives of governments, labour and employers will be joined by leaders from parliaments, academia and civil society on 31 October for a three-day ILO Forum on Decent Work for a Fair Globalization.

   An ILO Forum on Decent Work for a Fair Globalization will be held in the Portuguese capital on 31 October to 2 November to discuss a wide range of globalization issues and seek ways of promoting decent work as the key to economic, social and environmental sustainability and inclusiveness.

3. South Eastern European ministers of labour boost regional cooperation on employment and social policy

   26 October 2007

   High-level government, employers’ and workers’ representatives from nine South Eastern European countries adopted today an agreement, the “Montenegro conclusions”, that puts employment at the heart of economic and social policies.

   The International Labour Organization today calls for nominations for the 2008 " ILO Decent Work Research Prize" to recognize outstanding contributions to the advancement of knowledge on the ILO's central goal of decent work for all.

   ILO documentary to be screened at environmental movie festival in Italy

   11 October 2007

   Turning waste into wages is the goal of an ambitious project in Burkina Faso and the subject of an International Labour Office documentary to be screened by the Italian Film Festival "CinemAmbiente" in Turin, Italy.

6. Promoting better occupational safety and health through effective labour inspection to make Decent Work a global reality - Düsseldorf International Conference “Making Decent Work a Global Goal and a National Reality”

   09 October 2007

   From 18-20 September 2007 over 200 participants from 65 countries from all over the world met in Düsseldorf (Germany) to discuss the practical aspects of implementing international standards for decent work. The Conference was organized by the ILO in partnership with the German and Portuguese governments, the International Social Security Association, WHO, IALI and other international organizations, and with sponsorship from German partners Basi, Messe Düsseldorf, DGUV, Fraport AG, TÜV Rheinland, and BAD Team Prevent.
