    Amid the worst financial and jobs crisis since the Great Depression, the International Labour Organization (ILO) will mark its 90th anniversary in the week of 21-28 April. During this period, there will be a global convergence on the common theme of social dialogue on decent work for a fair globalization in commemorative events in more than 100 countries across the world.

  6. ILO Tripartite Caribbean Conference outlines action plan for addressing social and labour consequences of global financial crisis

    High-level representatives of governments, employers’ and workers’ organizations of the English- and Dutch-speaking Caribbean have come up with an action plan to address the social and labour consequences of the global financial crisis in the region. The action plan, presented under nine guiding principles, was put forward at the conclusion of the two-day International Labour Organization Tripartite Caribbean Conference which ended on 2 April 2009 in Kingston, Jamaica.

  7. ILO Director-General calls London G20 Summit "an important step forward on a difficult road"

    Ministers of Labour and other high-level representatives of the Ministries of Labour, and of employers’ and workers’ organizations of the English-and Dutch-speaking Caribbean will meet at an International Labour Organization Tripartite Caribbean Conference on the global financial crisis on 1-2 April 2009 in Kingston, Jamaica.

  2. Call for employment and social policies to drive growth and recovery

    At a special G8+6 Social Summit, International Labour Organization Director-General Juan Somavia called for new employment and social protection policies to drive economic growth and a recovery from the global economic crisis.

    The International Labour Office Governing Body concluded its discussions on the financial and economic global crisis, recommending a series of measures aimed at mitigating its impact and shaping a sustainable recovery.
