To facilitate this, and also to commemorate World Statistics Day on 20 October, the ILO Department of Statistics has launched a new short-term indicators database.

   The Director-General of the International Labour Organization, Juan Somavia, has expressed his deep emotion over the rescue operation to free the 33 miners trapped underground for more than two months in a mine in northern Chile.

   The Director-General of International Labour Organization (ILO) Juan Somavia has expressed his satisfaction that three renowned economists have been awarded the 2010 Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel for their work on issues of central concern to the ILO.
