   Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said that Russia’s policies are in step with the International Labour Organization’s Decent Work Agenda and offered to host an international conference in Russia next year focusing on how to make more progress towards achieving its goals.

   UN Women and ILO join forces to promote women’s empowerment in the workplace

   The United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN-Women) signed a wide-ranging Memorandum of Understanding with the International Labour Organization (ILO) in Geneva, Monday 13 June, on key issues including promoting gender equality, eliminating sex discrimination, protecting domestic workers, promoting social protection floors and combating gender-based violence at work.

The Executive Director of UN Women, Michelle Bachelet, asked representatives of governments, employers and workers attending the 100th International Labour Conference for a stronger commitment to the elimination of gender discrimination, and to consider it a matter of “smart economics”.

   UN Political Declaration on HIV and AIDS calls for world of work leadership

   On Friday 10th June, the United Nations member States recognized the ILO Recommendation concerning HIV and AIDS and the World of Work, 2010 (No. 200) as a key human rights instrument in the global HIV response in the final Declaration of the High Level Meeting on AIDS taking place here.
