GENEVA (ILO News) – The International Labour Organization (ILO) will hold its annual International Labour Conference in Geneva on 2-18 June. Government, worker and employer representatives from the ILO’s 183 member States will discuss a series of topics, including:
- The elaboration of a standard on HIV/AIDS in the world of work
- Decent work for domestic workers
- The strategic objective of employment (follow up on the 2008 ILO Declaration on Social Justice for a Fair Globalization)
- The Application of ILO’s Conventions and Recommendations
One year after the adoption of a Global Jobs Pact designed to guide national and international crisis responses, a High Level Panel will discuss the Pact and Macro-Economic Policies and the Role of productive employment and social protection with regard to achieving the Millennium Development Goals (14 June 14:30 – 18:30).
The Conference will be hosted at the United Nations Office at Geneva in the Palais des Nations, Switzerland.

Press room: During the Conference, a Press centre will be available in Room IV (building C, 3rd floor) with free wireless internet access.
Radio/television coverage and facilities: The ILO provides radio correspondents with facilities in the Palais des Nations for conducting interviews as well as editing and transmission of radio reports pertaining to the ILO and the International Labour Conference. Radio studio facilities can be reserved by contacting the ILO Radio and Television unit (Palais Office A561) or the radio technician’s office No. E-10 (new UN building).
Television correspondents wishing to conduct interviews with ILO officials or to obtain live or taped coverage of the conference proceedings can make arrangements through the ILO Radio and Television unit (Karen Naets-Sekiguchi, naets-sekiguchi@ilo.org).
Video editing, studio and transmission facilities are available at the ILO premises free of charge and can be arranged through the same office. The filming and videotaping of certain ILC meetings may require special permits and should therefore be coordinated through the ILO Radio & Television unit.
Advance Media Accreditation
Correspondents covering the International Labour Conference must be accredited by the International Labour Office unless they already hold UN media accreditation.
To obtain accreditation for the Conference, correspondents should complete Accreditation Form (Downloadable here), attach a signed letter from their Editor indicating the dates for which accreditation is required accompanied by a photocopy of media credentials (such as a valid press card) and their national passport and send this to the ILO by email (luchini@ilo.org or communication@ilo.org), fax (+4122/799-7397), or by mail (addressed to ILO, Department of Communication and Public Information, 4 route des Morillons, 1211 Geneva 22, Switzerland); this should reach the ILO before Monday 31st May 2010.
Correspondents should collect their badges at the Accreditation Pavillon situated at the entrance to the main building of the ILO (not the Palais des Nations), on presentation of a valid photo ID. The badges also give access to the shuttle buses running between the ILO building and the Conference site at the Palais des Nations.
