Media Advisory: 98th ILO Annual Conference - Agenda and accreditation information

The International Labour Organization (ILO) will hold its annual International Labour Conference here from 3-19 June and will discuss a global response to the impact of the economic and financial crisis on working women and men.

GENEVA (ILO News) – The International Labour Organization (ILO) will hold its annual International Labour Conference here from 3-19 June and will discuss a global response to the impact of the economic and financial crisis on working women and men.

The Conference will include an ILO Summit on the Global Jobs Crisis with the participation of selected Heads of State and Government, and a number of high level panels involving ministers, senior policy-makers, major representatives of business and labour, regional and international institutions and other global opinion leaders.

In addition, government, worker and employer representatives from the ILO’s 182 member States will discuss a new draft labour standard on HIV/AIDS and the world of work, the state of gender equality in the context of globalization and the ILO’s draft Programme and Budget for 2010-11.

The meeting will be held at the United Nations Office at Geneva in the Palais des Nations, 8-14 avenue de la Paix, Geneva, Switzerland. For more details on the ILO Conference programme, please see the ILO web site www.ilo.org/ilc.

Advance Media Accreditation

Correspondents covering the International Labour Conference must be accredited by the International Labour Office unless they already hold UN media accreditation.

To obtain accreditation for the Conference, correspondents should send a signed letter from their Editor indicating the reason for accreditation and the dates for which accreditation is required accompanied by a photocopy of media credentials (such as a valid press card) and their national passport.

These should be faxed (+4122/799-7397), emailed or mailed together with a duly filled copy of the attached Accreditation Form, to the ILO before Monday 25 May 2009 (email to luchini@ilo.org or communication@ilo.org, mail to ILO, Department of Communication, 4, route des Morillons, 1211 Geneva 22, Switzerland).

Correspondents should collect their badges at the Accreditation Pavillon situated at the entrance to the main building of the ILO (not the Palais des Nations), on presentation of a valid photo ID. The badges also give access to the shuttle buses running between the ILO building and the Conference site at the Palais des Nations.
