GENEVA (ILO News) ─The International Labour Office (ILO) is to launch a new study, entitled Global Wage Report 2008/09: Minimum wages and collective bargaining: Towards policy coherence on Tuesday 25 November that examines major trends in wages worldwide over the past decade, and provides a forecast of wage evolution in 2009 due to the global financial crisis.
The 100-page study analyses the trends in the level and the distribution of wages around the world in recent years and the role of minimum wages and collective bargaining. An updated analysis includes a new estimate of the impact of the financial crisis on wages in 2009 based on the latest IMF growth figures.
The report, along with a press release and executive summary, will be posted on the ILO website as of 25 November, 23.00 GMT and be available for publication after that time.
