ILO to launch new Book on trade union responses to globalization

A new publication entitled “Trade Union Responses to Globalization: A Review by the Global Union Research Network” is to be released today by the International Labour Office (ILO).

GENEVA (ILO News) – A new publication entitled “Trade Union Responses to Globalization: A Review by the Global Union Research Network” is to be released today by the International Labour Office (ILO). The collection of articles examines the role of trade unions in influencing and implementing policies aimed at achieving a fairer globalization.

The case studies also examine how the trade union movement is adapting to the complex pressures of globalization and developing strategies that involve alliance-building and international collaboration to promote the adoption of international labour standards.

Copies of the book will be available to the media upon request from the ILO Department of Communication, please contact communication@ilo.org. An executive summary of the book is available upon request in English, French and Spanish (PDF file).

For Geneva correspondents: an event organized by the ILO Bureau for Workers’ Activities to launch the book will be held Tuesday 6 pm, 13 November in the ILO restaurant, R2 North, ILO building. Speakers include Sir Roy Trotman, Vice-President of the ILO Governing Body and Spokesperson of the Workers' Group of the ILO Governing Body, Ms. Anna Biondi, Director, Geneva office of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) and Secretary of the Workers' Group of the ILO Governing Body and Mr. Dan Cunniah, Director of the Bureau for Workers’ Activities.
