Geneva events

Under the theme "Women of Justice: Balancing the Scales", Ms. Ebadi and Ms. Del Ponte will describe how they arrived at their present positions in a profession where women have made enormous strides towards equality. As more women enter the judiciary worldwide, the profession itself has become a key element in the fight by women for justice and equality.

Ms. Ebadi will meet with the press between 9:00-10:00 a.m. in Room I on Level R-3 South of the ILO main office. The media opportunity will be followed by the panel discussion in the Governing Body Room on level R-3. Admission to the panel discussion is at 10:00, and the programme will begin promptly at 10:30. Media who wish to cover the event should RSVP to receive a security pass ( ILO_MEDIA@ilo.org or tel.: +4122/799-7431/7912).

Also in Geneva, an ILO film festival on the theme, "Women's Work" will take place on 8-10 March, featuring films from around the world about the struggles of women to achieve their professional goals, balance work and family, or simply earn a living. Films include Real Women have Curves (USA), La Saison des Hommes (Tunisia), and Domésticas (Brazil), among others (see full programme). The festival takes place at the Maison des Arts de Genève, 16 rue Général-Dufour, Plainpalais, Geneva. Entry is free. For information and screening times: tel.: +4122/320-7878.
