Young people from around the world are discussing ways to promote youth employment and entrepreneurship in the face of a global jobs crisis that affects 75 million youth. Over 100 young men and women are taking part in the Youth Employment Forum at the ILO in Geneva, sharing their experiences and points of view. These are some of their voices:

If employment continues to grow at the current rate of 1.5 per cent, it will be impossible to close the approximately 21 million jobs gap that has accumulated across the G20 since the onset of the crisis in 2008, said the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in a joint report ahead of the G20 labour ministerial meeting in Guadalajara, Mexico.

The employment potential of the transition to greener economies cannot be realized without the development of a wide range of relevant new skills for green jobs, according to a new global study by the ILO of 21 countries representing some 60 per cent of the world population. “Skills for Green Jobs: A Global View” is the most comprehensive report to date, outlining the needs and challenges of developing new skills that will be critical to sustaining the growth of green economies.
