   If employment continues to grow at the current rate of 1.5 per cent, it will be impossible to close the approximately 21 million jobs gap that has accumulated across the G20 since the onset of the crisis in 2008, said the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in a joint report ahead of the G20 labour ministerial meeting in Guadalajara, Mexico.

   ILO Director-General calls for “decisive global cooperation” to tackle massive jobs deficit

   In a statement issued to the International Monetary Financial Committee and Development Committee, Mr Somavia warned that the world economy is again facing risks of a financial crisis and an economic recession which could further strain an already critical employment situation. He called for “decisive global cooperation” to tackle the massive jobs deficit and to avoid sliding into a possible recession.
