ILO to hold first HQ Open Day

To mark its Centenary, the International Labour Organization (ILO) is organizing its first public Open Day. The Open Day will take place on Tuesday, 15 October, at the ILO’s headquarters in Geneva.

The day will include guided tours and exhibitions on the ILO’s history, fundamental principles and the future of work. There will also be film shows, games and a knowledge corner staffed by ILO experts ready to answer questions. An Engagement Zone will offer a virtual reality experience and an interactive photo booth.

In the evening there will be a high-level panel discussion on the future of work with ILO Director-General Guy Ryder and public figures from Geneva.

The Open Day will start at 08.00 with visits by local school groups. Activities will be open to the general public from 15.00. The panel discussion will take place at 18.30.


The Open Day is being organized with assistance from the Fondation pour Genève, Eduki and Espace Entreprise. Members of the public are invited to register to attend the event via the Fondation pour Genève website.

The ILO was founded in 1919, and is the oldest major specialized agency in the United Nations system. The Organization’s Centenary is being marked during 2019 with numerous events and activities worldwide.
