ILO to publish World Employment and Social Outlook: Trends 2018

GENEVA (ILO News) – The International Labour Organization (ILO) is to launch its flagship report, World Employment and Social Outlook: Trends 2018, on Monday, 22 January at 20:00 GMT.

This year’s edition highlights the challenges for the coming year in jobs and the labour market and looks at global and regional employment trends. The report also focuses on efforts that need to be put in place to improve the quality of work for jobholders, paying particular attention to working poverty and vulnerable employment.

Embargoed electronic copies of the report, and associated media material will be made available to journalists upon request, starting on the morning of Friday, 19 January, by contacting newsroom@ilo.org or the Department of Communication and Public Information at +4122/799-7912.

Journalists will also be given access to detailed country and regional data used in the report by using an embargoed version of the WESO Data Finder, a new interactive data visualization tool that allows users to create charts, compare indicators and countries, and download data and ready-to-share images.

For UNOG accredited correspondents: A press briefing by Guy Ryder, ILO Director-General, Sangheon Lee, Director a.i. of the ILO Research Department and Stefan Kühn, lead author of the report, will be held, under embargo, on Monday, 22 January at 11:00 a.m. in press room 3 at the Palais des Nations. The embargoed report will be sent to them automatically as soon as it becomes available.

The report and all associated material and information are under strict embargo until 20.00 GMT (21:00 Geneva time) on Monday, 22 January.
