In Chengdu, China, labour inspectors regularly inspect companies not only to enforce labour laws, but also to help them improve their productivity. They inform workers of their rights and in so doing promote decent work. As it is elsewhere, labour inspection in China is key to responding to the emerging challenges of the country's economic development. This short film was produced with the cooperation of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security (MOHRSS) of the People's Republic of China and the International Labour Organization (ILO), through the kind support of CCTV.

The President of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, has called for a global coalition to tackle youth employment in an address to a special session of the 100th International Labour Conference (ILC) in Geneva. The President called on delegates to work together to prevent increasing unemployment among young people, saying this would be critical to creating a new era of social justice.

A new report on labour and social trends in the 10 member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) will be released by the International Labour Organization’s (ILO) Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific on Friday 21st May. The report has been prepared for participants attending the 2nd ASEAN Human Resource Conference, being held in Hanoi on Tuesday 25th May.
