    Sisana is HIV Positive and Back at Work

    Over a year ago ILO TV interviewed Sisana Buba, a supermarket cashier who was sick at home with an HIV-related illness. ILO TV returned to Swaziland recently to find Sisana feeling well and back at work. The supermarket where she works has a HIV/AIDS workplace policy. As a result Sisana hasn't suffered from discrimination from her colleagues, and has had access to anti-retroviral treatment. Developed with the help of the ILO, this kind of HIV/AIDS workplace policy is now going global, with the adoption of an international labour standard on HIV/AIDS in the world of work at the ILO's 99th International Labour Conference.

    Delegate Dialogues: Jan Sithole, Vice-Chairperson of the HIV/AIDS Committee and Adviser to the Swaziland Federation of Trade Unions

    ILO TV interviews delegates participating in the Committee for HIV/AIDS at the 99th International Labour Conference in Geneva from 2-18 June 2010. The committee members have discussed a proposed new labour standard on HIV/AIDS in the world of work. The proposed standard contains provisions on prevention programmes and anti-discrimination measures at national and workplace levels aimed at strengthening the contribution of the world of work to universal access to HIV prevention, treatment, care and support.

    Workplaces in Africa respond to HIV/AIDS

    A film on the ILO's work in five countries in Africa. The ILO is the United Nations specialised agency for the world of work and cosponsor of UNAIDS. Within the UNAIDS family, the ILO is lead agency for workplace policies and programmes on HIV/AIDS. It has activities in all regions and in all sectors, from transport and agriculture to mining, hotels, and the public sector.
