Working poverty remains main concern for young people in Sub-Saharan Africa, says ILO

Two in three young workers in Sub-Saharan Africa are living on less than US$2 a day, says Sara Elder, Chief Technical Advisor of the ILO's Work4Youth project. While attending The MasterCard Foundation's first "Young Africa Works Summit”, in Cape Town in October 2015, Sara Elder stressed the urgency to invest in policies directed to scale up infrastructure in rural areas and to boost the potential of the agricultural sector as the primary employer of youth in Africa.
