As part of the global launch of the International Labour Organization’s 50 for Freedom campaign against modern slavery, Selma actor, David Oyelowo, voices the real-life story of a man tricked and trapped into slavery. Oyelowo is one of several Hollywood artists who are supporting the campaign, led by the ILO, which launches on 20 October.

The International Labour Organization's Goodwill Ambassador, actor, Wagner Moura, voices the real-life story of a victim of forced labour, in support of the 50 for Freedom campaign against modern slavery. The campaign aims to persuade governments to ratify a new international treaty - the Forced Labour Protocol - which is designed to eliminate contemporary forms of slavery for good.

Very few of the estimated 53 million domestic workers worldwide are covered by labour laws. In 2011, the ILO's Member States adopted the Domestic Workers' Convention (N°189) to protect their rights, promote equality of opportunity and treatment, and improve working and living conditions. So far, 17 countries have ratified this convention. Let's keep the momentum!

It's now time to ratify the newly adopted ILO Forced Labour Protocol

The new legally-binding ILO Protocol on Forced Labour aims to strengthen global efforts towards combating forced labour, trafficking and slavery-like practices. Governments now have the opportunity to ratify the Protocol and integrate new measures at the national and regional levels to combat this crime.
