Red Card to Child Labour

Red Card to Child Labour:
Aerial art from Botafogo Beach, Rio de Janeiro

More than a thousand people came together on Botafogo Beach in Rio de Janeiro to form a giant Aerial Art image to raise awareness of the 168 million of children worldwide who are in child labour. Against the backdrop of Sugar Loaf Mountain, the volunteers created a human pinwheel - the emblem of the International Programme on the Elimination of Child Labour (IPEC). This was the main launch event to mark the start of the ILO's new Red Card to Child Labour Campaign. The Aerial Artist is John Quigley/Spectral Q, and the event was produced by Patricia Foulkrod.
