International labour standards and the broad policies of the International Labour Organization are set by the International Labour Conference (ILC). 2011 marked the 100th anniversary of the International Labour Conference (ILC). Here are some of the most historic achievements of the ILC.

  3. 10th anniversary of the Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation between the ILO and the Ministry of Labour and Social Security of China

    In 2001 China's Ministry of Labour and Social Security signed a memorandum of understanding with the International Labour Organization (ILO) launching a programme of cooperation based on the ILO's Decent Work agenda to support national reform in China and social progress worldwide. Ten years after its adoption, the 6th Joint Committee review took place in Beijing from 28 November to 1 December 2011.

  5. Children in hazardous work: what we know, what we need to do

    The international community and ILO Member States have set the goal of eliminating the worst forms of child labour by 20161. Since the overwhelming majority of the worst forms of child labour involve hazardous work, tackling hazardous child labour can bring us closer to achieving our goal. The 2011 World Day Against Child Labour will provide a global spotlight on hazardous child labour, and call for urgent action to tackle the problem.
