  4. ILO, European Commission, OHCHR, UNWOMEN and KSBSI sign agreement on global action programme on migrant domestic workers

    The European Commission and the ILO in partnership with OHCHR, UNWOMEN and the Indonesian Trade Union KSBSI signed an agreement on implementing a “Global Action programme on migrant domestic workers and their families”. The implementation of this three-year programme, with € 3.5 million EU funding, will start on 1 February 2013.

  5. 10th high level meeting of the ILO and the European Commission

    For the 10th time in a row, and in the presence of the ILO Director-General Guy Ryder, the ILO Office and the European Commission (EC) held their annual high-level meeting defining the focus of their cooperation for the next year. The ILO Office and the EC reaffirmed their mutual partnership and defined fields and areas of common action in 2013.

  6. European Parliament delegation discusses response to the crisis with ILO Director-General

    A high-level delegation of the Employment and Social Affairs Committee (EMPL) of the European Parliament visited the ILO headquarters in Geneva on 12 November 2012. The delegation met the ILO Director-General Guy Ryder and discussed – among other things – the response to the crisis in Europe and in the world, the implementation of social protection floors, the promotion of the Convention on domestic work and recent ILO initiatives on the Arab Spring.

  8. Youth labour market still critical in G20 countries

    Data presented at a G20 meeting in Geneva shows that youth unemployment rates remain alarming, ranging from about 8 per cent to over 50 per cent in 17 of the 20 member countries. The G20 Task Force on Employment agreed to promote quality apprenticeships.
