1. 

   Nigeria ratifies the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 (MLC, 2006)

   19 June 2013

   On 18 June 2013, the Government of Nigeria deposited with the International Labour Office the instrument of ratification of the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 (MLC, 2006). Nigeria is the 37th ILO Member State and the fifth State from the African region – after Benin, Liberia, Morocco and Togo – to have ratified the landmark Maritime Labour Convention, 2006.

   ILO lifts remaining restrictions on Myanmar

   18 June 2013

   The restrictions were related to the country’s non compliance of the ILO Forced Labour Convention, 1930 (No.29).

   ILO and EU-Presidency welcome moves to ensure decent work for domestic workers

   18 June 2013

   Labour and social affair ministers from ten countries, the President of the EU Council, Richard Bruton, EU Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion, László Andor, and ILO Director-General, Guy Ryder, discuss ways to support ILO Convention 189 on Decent Work for Domestic Workers.

   Launch of new Skills for Employment Knowledge Sharing Platform

   The new Skills for Employment Global Public-Private Knowledge Sharing Platform (Global KSP) shares the approaches and experiences that international organizations, governments, employers and workers have found effective in strengthening the links between education and training to productive and decent work.

   Mexico and the ILO sign cooperation agreement on social protection floors

   17 June 2013

   The agreement was signed by the Minister of Labour and Social Protection of Mexico, Alfonso Navarrete Prida, and ILO Director-General, Guy Ryder, during the International Labour Conference in Geneva.

   Restoring Confidence: Jobs, Growth and Social Progress

   High-level panel at the International Labour Conference discusses the main issues concerning the world of work and solutions to the global jobs crisis.

   ILO-Japan sign ¥30,831,000 skills’ training initiative

   A collaboration between the Government of Japan and the International Labour Organization will strengthen a range of courses offered by the International Training Centre in Turin, Italy.
