    The United Nations-Indigenous Peoples Partnership (UNIPP) held its second Policy Board meeting in New York on 27-28 October 2011 to review and approve proposals for UN country programs designed in partnership with indigenous peoples.

    The newly-established UN Indigenous Peoples Partnership has moved to reinvigorate international action on Indigenous Peoples Right, through establishing criticial priorities at its first meeting here. The UNIPP Policy Board also appointed the ILO as host organization for its technical secretariat.

  1. Central African Republic ratifies ILO Indigenous and Tribal Peoples Convention, 1989 (No. 169)

    20 April 2010

    ILO Convention No. 169 is based on the recognition of indigenous and tribal peoples’ aspirations to exercise control over their own institutions, ways of life and economic development and to maintain and develop their identities, languages and religions, within the framework of the States in which they live. The Central African Republic will become the first African Member State of the ILO to ratify this Convention.
