The ILO Commission of Inquiry into the situation of trade union rights in Zimbabwe arrived in Harare on 19 May 2009 on a goodwill mission. The mandate of the Commission is to follow-up on specific submissions concerning the Freedom of Association and Protection of the Right to Organize Convention, No. 87, and the Right to Organize and Collective Bargaining Convention No. 98. The Commission will eventually submit a report to the Governing Body of the ILO containing its findings, and such recommendations as it thinks appropriate in accordance with Article 26 of the Constitution of the ILO.
