GENEVA (ILO News) - Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah of Jordan will visit the International Labour Office (ILO) on Thursday 3 October to meet ILO Director-General Juan Somavia and other senior officials of the Organization.
Her Majesty has a special interest in children's issues and her visit will focus on the launching of an expanded programme against child labour in Jordan by the ILO International Programme for the Elimination of Child Labour (IPEC), and on Her Majesty's support for the ILO's campaign against child labour nationally and internationally.
Her Majesty will also be briefed on the ILO Programme on Decent Work in the Arab States Region setting the challenge of eliminating child labour in the broader framework of providing decent work for parents.
There will be a photo opportunity at 12:50 p.m. outside ILO meeting room I (R-3 level) with the persons participating in the meeting.
