GENEVA (ILO News) – The International Labour Office (ILO) will release a new global report analysing the impact of HIV/AIDS on the world of work in 50 countries in sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean, and two developed regions. Prepared by the ILO Programme on HIV/AIDS in the World of Work, the study provides the most comprehensive data to date on the impact of AIDS in the working world, with extensive data and analysis for the most affected regions of the world.
The report "HIV/AIDS and work: global estimates, impact and response" will be presented at the XVth International Conference on AIDS in Bangkok, Thailand, on 11-17 July and was prepared on the basis of newly developed demographic and epidemiological data from the United Nations and other sources.
The report is embargoed for
publication on or after 1700 GMT, Sunday 11 July
2004 and will only appear on the ILO website at
that time. Advance copies are available to the
