  24 March 2009 - Government of Brazil signs new Partnership Agreement with the ILO for the promotion of South-South cooperation in Latin America and Caribbean and African countries.
• Tripartite Technical Workshop on the Impact of the Food Price Crisis on Decent Work
  09 March 2009 - The ILO held a two-day workshop on 5-6 March 2009 on the global food crisis and its impact on decent work. The meeting recommended measures to achieve global food security and to involve networks of employers and workers organizations in the development and delivery of national plans to do so.
• Asia-Pacific countries meet to discuss responses to global economic crisis
  18 February 2009 - Ministries of labour and finance, senior UN, World Bank and government officials, workers and employers representatives from more than 10 Asia and the Pacific countries are meeting in Manila this week to discuss effective responses to the current economic crisis.
• Microinsurance Innovation Facility calls for new proposals - Projects would encourage innovation, promote insurance services to the poor
  17 February 2009 - The ILO’s Microinsurance Innovation Facility today issued a call for new proposals for grants to encourage insurance providers to experiment with new products and partnerships aimed at bringing effective and affordable risk management solutions to working poor in developing countries.
• European leaders, ILO Director-General and social partners discuss key policy responses to the financial and economic crisis
  12 February 2009 - A group of top European leaders joined the ILO Director-General and representatives of the social partners met in Lisbon for a high-level discussion on comprehensive policy responses to the financial and economic crisis.

• ILO-IPEC, World Scout Movement extend cooperation to fight child labour
  12 February 2009 - Michele Jankanish, Director of the ILO’s International Programme on the Elimination of Child Labour (IPEC) and Luc Panissod, Acting Secretary-General of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM), have signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to extend their cooperation in the fight against child labour for a further three years.

• ILO, social partners launch new guide for business on labour principles
  16 December 2008 - “The Labour Principles of the United Nations Global Compact – A Guide for Business” was launched at a meeting of the Labour Working Group of the UN Global Compact here today, in the presence of leading representatives of the International Organisation of Employers (IOE), the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) and business leaders.
• Belgium continues partnership with ILO to extend social security and promote social dialogue
  15 December 2008 - On 9 December 2008, the Minister of Development Cooperation of Belgium, Mr. Charles Michel, signed an agreement with the International Labour Office (ILO) for a new grant of €6 million and €2.4 respectively to extend social security to vulnerable populations and promote social dialogue in French-speaking Africa.
• ILO Director-General calls on G20 to address the social implications of the global economic crisis
  10 December 2008 - Speaking in the Vatican on the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the Director-General of the International Labour Office Juan Somavia called on leaders of the G20 "to address the social implications of the financial crisis."
