XVIII World Congress on Safety and Health at Work opens in Seoul: ILO report highlights need for safer workplaces
29 June 2008 - The International Labour Office has released a new report “Beyond deaths and injuries: The ILO’s role in promoting safe and healthy jobs”, at the XVIII World Congress on Safety and Health at Work. The Congress, which takes place through 2 July, is the largest global event on occupational safety and health, gathering some 4,000 representatives from more than 100 countries.

Denmark significantly expands partnership agreement with the International Labour Organization (ILO) with new US$12.5 million grant
16 June 2008 - The Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has significantly expanded its partnership agreement with the International Labour Organization (ILO) with a new grant of DKK 60 million (approximately US$ 12,5 million) for 2008-09. Projects are to promote tripartism and decent work, improve job quality in Africa and explore flexibile labour market policies in Viet Nam.

Indonesia marks 10th anniversary of ratifying ILO Convention on Freedom of Association
09 June 2008 - To mark the tenth anniversary of the ratification of ILO core Convention No. 87 on Freedom of Association by Indonesia, the Government of Indonesia and the International Labour Organization (ILO) will launch a Photo Exhibition, “A Portrait of the World of Work in Indonesia”, on Monday, 9 June 2008, at the ILO Library, Geneva.

Juan Somavia highlights ASEAN charter as foundation for helping "Marginalized Majority"
08 May 2008 - In an address to the 20th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Labour Ministers’ Meeting in Bangkok, the Director-General of the ILO, highlighted the ASEAN Charter signed late last year as a “fundamental political commitment” to honour “the dignity of work and respond to the legitimate aspirations of people and families for a better life.”
