• ILO and World Bank to Work More Closely on Global Disaster Risk Reduction and Livelihoods
  18 June 2009 - The ILO and the World Bank signed a joint statement to reinforce their collaboration to address the consequences of natural hazards and rebuild livelihoods in the aftermath of disasters. The statement was signed in Geneva along the margins of the Second Session of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction.

  16 June 2009 - Timor-Leste has ratified four conventions of the International Labour Organization (ILO), concerning forced labour, freedom of association and protection of the right to organize, the right to organize and collective bargaining, and the elimination of the worst forms of child labour.

  29 May 2009 - Since the influenza A(H1N1) outbreak has been announced 53 countries have officially reported 1reported 15,510 cases of human infection including 99 deaths (as of 06:00 GMT, 29 May 2009). The speed with which the outbreak has spread and the risk of a pandemic certainly merit the implementation of all measures necessary to protect the health of the world’s population.
• IFC-ILO Better Work partnership scales up to improve labor standards in developing countries
  11 May 2009 - IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, and the International Labour Organization (ILO) are scaling up their Better Work partnership to help raise labor standards in global supply chains, which will improve the lives of about 1.2 million workers in developing countries.
• Argentina and Brazil request the ILO takes part in G-20 meetings
  06 May 2009 - The presidents of Argentina and Brazil called for the ILO’s participation in the meetings of the G-20, taking into account the organization's experience in promoting social dialogue, advocating social justice and developing its Decent Work Agenda.
