Synergies between GIMI, AMIN, ACYM, la Concertation and the International Alliance
GIMI is an interactive Internet website aiming at supporting the development of microinsurance schemes and, more broadly, the extension of social security.
GIMI relies mainly on the contributions of its users; part of them are members of the regional coordination networks (AMIN, ACYM and la Concertation) or the International Alliance for the extension of social protection, at the global level.
Synergies exist therefore between the GIMI and the coordination networks in terms of:
- Promotion. The coordination networks promote GIMI among their members; in return, GIMI disseminates information on the networks activities, notably through the « Community News » and the G-News publication.
- Information sharing. The networks are a great source of information for GIMI on ongoing projects on extension of social security in the countries of their region; they also feed GIMI with contents (library, glossary, key projects, country pages …). On the other hand, GIMI provides the regional networks with information on what is going on in other regions of the world.
- Conduct of joint activities. For instance, in the framework of the conduct and analysis of the microinsurance schemes inventories, the users fill in the questionnaires made available on the networks websites and the results are disseminated to a large public through GIMI. Another example; projects of extension of social security in the field may have a reserved space on the GIMI platform (mini web site) where they can communicate on the project, facilitate research for partners, work in collaboration with other experts or projects, etc.
