This project, part of the United Kingdom/ILO Partnership Framework Agreement 2006-09, aims to help strengthen ILO’s contribution to joint UN programming on gender equality at national level, and ensure that gender dimensions are integrated in ILO core results-based management systems.
The strategy for the first objective is based on ILO participatory gender audits. Among activities, a series of trainings for facilitators of such audits have been held with UN staff, with a focus on “delivering as one” pilot countries, prior to conducting gender audits for several joint UN programmes.
The strategy for the second objective focuses on effectively implementing the ILO Action Plan for Gender Equality 2008-09. The Action Plan includes indicators on mainstreaming gender into staffing, substance and institutional arrangements – as well as into the four strategic objectives of the organization’s Programme and Budget 2008-09.
