This project, coordinated by GENDER, aimed to build the capacity of ILO staff and constituents to address gender dimensions in initiatives of Phase 1 of the ILO/Norway Partnership Agreement.

Initiatives during Phase 1, which was launched in 2006 and ended in February 2009, focused on the following themes: promoting social dialogue, combating child labour, addressing the social dimensions of globalization, and promoting the Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work.

In addition to building gender mainstreaming capacity, immediate outputs of the project included knowledge development and knowledge sharing on gender equality. Key areas of work within these addressed youth employment, child labour, the informal economy, pay equity, domestic work, and rural employment.
