This project, coordinated by GENDER, addresses gender dimensions of both policy orientation and operational aspects of the overall Netherlands/ILO Cooperation Programme (NICP).

The project does this through building the gender mainstreaming capacity of ILO staff, constituents and other implementing partners. Its strategy involves close collaboration with 11 field-based NICP projects to support development and implementation of gender mainstreaming strategies within them. The 11 field-based projects address specific decent work priorities at national level such as employment creation, youth employment, local economic development, and bonded labour.

The main activities of the GENDER-coordinated project, which was launched in November 2006 and ends in April 2010, include offering technical guidance on gender mainstreaming, targeted training, and tools development. Activities are carried out in close collaboration with the ILO global Gender Network, as well as the ILO International Training Centre based in Turin.
