Gender Mainstreaming in DFID/ILO Partnership Framework Agreement

Completed in December 2009, this project, part of the United Kingdom/ILO Partnership Framework Agreement 2006-09, helped strengthening ILO's contribution to joint UN programme on gender equality at national level and ensured the integration of gender dimensions in ILO core results-based management systems.

Size/duration: 1 June 2008 - 31 December 2009
Contact(s): Geir T. Tonstol
Donor: Government of United Kingdom

The strategy for the first objective was based on ILO participatory gender audits. Among activities, a series of trainings for facilitators of such audits were held with UN staff, with a focus on “delivering as one” pilot countries, prior to conducting gender audits for several joint UN programmes.

The strategy for the second objective focused on effectively implementing the ILO Action Plan for Gender Equality 2008-09. The Action Plan included indicators on mainstreaming gender into staffing, substance and institutional arrangements – as well as into the four strategic objectives of the organization’s Programme and Budget 2008-09.
