Workshop: Research Strategy and Pay Equity

This workshop, held by GENDER, INTEGRATION and DECLARATION brought together ILO staff from headquarters and field offices who had conducted gender-sensitive research or specific research on gender equality issues. Some participants had also been involved in research, supervision, policy-development or capacity building on pay equity matters. The workshop provided a preliminary review of this research and findings.

The first part of the workshop (May 21-23) explored the path to an ILO research strategy on gender equality. Speakers were Prof. Diane Elson (University of Essex), Prof. Damian Grimshaw (University of Manchester) and Dr. Shahra Razavi (UN Research Institute for Social Development). The second part (May 23-25) addressed pay equity, and included an address by Prof. Marie-Therese Chicha (University of Montreal).
