Governing Body

The Governing Body is the executive body of the International Labour Organization (the Office is the secretariat of the Organization). It meets three times a year, in March, June and November. It takes decisions on ILO policy, decides the agenda of the International Labour Conference, adopts the draft Programme and Budget of the Organization for submission to the Conference, and elects the Director-General. The Governing Body website has been redesigned to reflect the new structure of the Governing Body as established by the reform adopted in its 310th (March 2011) and 311th (June 2011) Sessions.

  1. Appointment of the Director-General of the ILO

    The Governing Body of the ILO will elect the next Director-General of the International Labour Office by secret ballot, in a private sitting which will open at 10:00 a.m. on Monday 28 May 2012.

    The list of candidates for each round of ballot may be consulted at any time during the day.

  3. Registration for March and November sessions

    The registration/information desk of the Governing Body, located on level R3 south of the ILO building, will be open every day of the session (except on Saturdays and Sundays) from 8:00 a.m. to 12 noon and from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
    Government members of the Governing Body who have already submitted their official credentials to the Secretariat of the Governing Body (frassier@ilo.org), may collect the badges of the members of their delegation on presentation of the authorization form, duly completed.
