1. Conférence Internationale : “Protection sociale et Inclusion sociale: des efforts convergents dans une perspective mondiale”

   2 - 3 octobre 2006, Lisbon, Portugal

   Le Bureau International du Travail, le Ministère du Travail et de la Solidarité Social du Portugal, et la Commission Européenne ont organisé conjointement cette conférence dans l'objectif commun aux trois entités organisatrices, la promotion du "travail décent pour tous".

2. Forum Economique Mondial 2006

   25 janvier 2006, Davos, Switzerland

   Juan Somavia a pris part au débat sur la création d'emploi lors du Forum Economique Mondial. Il a indiqué que le monde était confronté à une crise de l'emploi sans précédent avec une forte croissance du chômage.

1. XIV Conférence inter-américaine des Ministres du Travail (CIMT) de l'OEA

   26 - 27 septembre 2005, Mexico city, Mexico

   Le thème central de la XIVe Conférence interaméricaine des ministres du travail était "La personne et son travail au centre de la mondialisation" et la conférence a été organisée autour de 3 sujets principaux: • Le caractère central de la personne et de son travail dans l’économie, dans les politiques de l’État et dans la mondialisation • Le dialogue social en tant qu’outil pour aborder les effets de la mondialisation sur la société et sur le travail • Les effets des politiques publiques en matière d’emploi et de lutte contre la pauvreté sur la société et le travail

2. High Level Segment of the Economic and Social Council

   New York, United States

   The ILO Director General's address to the council focused on poverty reduction.

3. Ministerial Roundtable Breakfast "Globalization and the LDCs: The need for a fair and inclusive process"

   29 juin 2005, New York, United States

   This Ministerial breakfast hosted by the ILO brought together more than 40 persons representing governmnets, UN-system entities, the Bretton Woods Institutions, the private sector, civil society organisations asnd the academic community.

4. Deuxième Sommet du groupe des 77 et de la Chine

   12 - 16 juin 2005, Doha, Qatar

   En sa qualité de plus grande coalition du tiers monde aux Nations Unies, le groupe des 77 fournit au monde en voie de développement les moyens d’articuler et de promouvoir ses intérêts économiques collectifs, d’accroître sa capacité de négociation commune sur touts les principaux sujets économiques internationaux dans le Système des Nations Unies, et de promouvoir la coopération économique et technique parmi les pays en voie de développement (ECDC/TCDC)

5. National Seminar on the Social Dimension of Globalization for trade unionists

   28 - 29 avril 2005, Bogotá, Colombia

   The Seminar focused on employment and fundamental labour rights following the recommendations of the World Commission.

6. Réunion du Conseil des Ministres "Emploi, politique sociale, santé et consommateurs" sous Présidence luxembourgeoise

   3 mars 2005, Bruxelles, Belgique

   Le Conseil "Emploi, politique sociale, santé et consommateurs" (EPSCO) s’est tenu le 3 mars 2005 à Bruxelles, sous la présidence luxembourgeoise de François Biltgen, ministre du Travail et de l’Emploi, et de Mars Di Bartolomeo, ministre de la Santé et de la Sécurité sociale. Marie-Josée Jacobs était également présente en sa qualité de ministre de l’Égalité des chances. Les points à l’ordre du jour ont essentiellement concerné l’emploi, la politique sociale et la dimension sociale de la mondialisation.

7. Special session of the ILO's Seventh European Regional Meeting

   14 - 18 février 2005, Budapest, Hungary

   A special session at ministerial level during the ILO's European Regional Meeting confirmed widespread support for the follow-up to the report. A high level panel discussion among the Prime Ministers of Hungary, Kazakhstan, Luxemburg and Malta, the General Secretary of the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) and the President of the International Organisation of Employers (IOE) also underlined the importance of globalization for the development of social policy and employment creation. The Director-General addressed the Conference.

1. International Confederation of Free Trade Unions (ICFTU) 18th World Congress

   5 - 10 décembre 2004, Miyazaki, Iraq

   At the congress, in the presence of President Mkapa, President Halonen and the Director-General, the Report was welcomed and a goal of globalization, decent work and sustainable development was established through a resolution, building on key ILO instruments.

2. UN General Assembly adopts Resolution on World Commission Report on Fair Globalization

   Geneva, Switzerland

   UN General Assembly adopted by consensus a resolution recognizing the contribution of the World Commission's report to achieving a fully inclusive and equitable globalization.

3. ILO Tripartite Conference on Welfare State Reform: A Vision for Poland

   19 octobre 2004, Warsaw, Poland

   This Conference organized by the Government of Poland forms part of the national follow-up to the WCSDG report.

4. National Roundtable on fair globalization in the Russian Federation

   13 septembre 2004, St. Petersburg, Russian Federation

   The roundtable meeting called for a fair globalization for the Russian Federation.

5. The Social Partners' Forum "Decent work, a driving force for Africa's development"

   3 - 5 septembre 2004, Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso

   The Forum brought together 80 representatives of employer and worker organizations as well as 20 observers from non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and representatives of international institutions.

6. Side event during 31st International Council on Social Welfare's (ICSW)

   16 - 19 août 2004, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

   The ILO and Commissioner Nayyar were present. The ICSWs Global Programme 2005-2008 includes action on the follow up to the Report in section 4.

7. 92nd Session International Labour Conference

   1 - 17 juin 2004, Geneva, Switzerland

   The Director-Generals report gave rise to a wide-ranging and high quality debate in the plenary of the International Labour Conference. Almost 300 speakers offered a multitude of ideas and reactions, and suggestions on how the ILO could take the recommendations of the Report forward.

8. Follow-up conference on the Report of the Social Dimension of Globalization, Lithuania.

   13 - 14 mai 2004, Vilnius, Lithuania

   The meeting gathered high-level representatives of workers, employers and governments from the Nordic and Baltic States, and was the first of a series of national and regional meetings to discuss the follow-up to the report of the World Commission on the Social Dimension of Globalization.

9. China Employment Forum

   28 - 30 avril 2004, Beijing, China

   The Forum had more than 500 high-ranking officials and specialists with strong international participation and discussions concentrated on decent work for all. Commissioner Lu Mai and the Director-General were present.

10. Cross-Office discussion of the Social Dimension of Regional Integration

    Geneva, Switzerland

    The ILO's Policy Integration Department sponsored the discussion as part of the follow-up to the work of the World Commission on the Social Dimension of Globalization.
