Mr Ahmet Erdem, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour and Social Security of the Republic of Turkey, and Mr Heinz Koller, Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia of the ILO, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 1 June 2016 in Geneva. The signing ceremony took place in parallel with the 105th  session of the International Labour Conference in presence of the Turkish social partners.

Following the kind offer made by the Republic of Turkey to host in Istanbul the 10th European Regional Meeting (ERM) on 2-5 October 2017, the ILO Governing Body approved the arrangements proposed for the 10th ERM at its last session in March 2016 (GB.326/INS/16/2).

The ERM takes place every four years and is meant to bring together tripartite constituents - Governments, Employers and Workers - from the 51 countries of the Region with the aim of exchanging views on economic and social issues in the region as well as on the ILO’s regional priorities. The discussions during the 10th ERM should in particular focus on the drivers of change, opportunities and implications for the future of work in the region.
