ILO maps out technological transformation in Public Employment Services

The ILO global survey on the “Use of technology by public employment services (PES)” found that all 69-surveyed PES in 64 countries are already experiencing a technology transformation, although with varying degrees of development and investment. This survey is part of the ILO’s future of work agenda for employment services and was applied with support from the World Association of Public Employment Services (WAPES).

PES see technology primarily as a vehicle to:
• increase performance and expand service coverage, particularly in low- and middle-income economies;
• respond to changes in clients’ expectations due to digitalization;
• enable an inclusive service delivery when solutions are accessible and adapted to all;
• reduce operational costs as long as technology is easy to access, safe and intuitive as possible.
