  1. What Works in Youth and Women’s Employment in MENA?

    On 7 & 8 May, the ILO will join partners to share the current status and progress on what works in youth and women’s employment in the MENA region while promoting multi-sectoral collaboration to define and address priorities for policy formulation. Key to this is the regional Community of Practice on Youth Employment, to facilitate knowledge sharing, partnership creation and up-scaling of successful youth employment interventions.

  2. Academy on Youth Employment

    The 2-week Youth Employment Academy, hosted by the ILO's Turin Centre, enhances the capacity of labour market practitioners to develop comprehensive strategies to tackle the multifaceted dimensions of the youth employment challenge.

  1. Green Public Employment Programmes and the Future of Work: PEPs as a transformative vehicle for economic, social and environmental benefits for a Just Transition

    The course will focus on current policy debates arising from climate change adaptation and the implementation of a just transition for all through such labour based public employment programmes. It is presented by UCT’s Graduate School of Development Policy and Practice (GSDPP) in collaboration with the International Labour Organization’s Employment Intensive Investment Programme (EIIP).

  1. Launch of the engagement platform of the Global Initiative on Decent Jobs for Youth

    The event brings together partners of the Global Initiative on Decent Jobs for Youth and other key youth employment actors to celebrate the launch of the online engagement platform, to present the Quality Apprenticeships Toolkit and to learn more about the ongoing work and opportunities for collaboration.

  2. ILO-IFAD Taqeem Policy Roundtable: What works in promoting entrepreneurship for rural women?

    As part of the Egypt Entrepreneurship Summit 2017, ILO-IFAD Taqeem hosted a policy roundtable titled “What works in promoting entrepreneurship for rural women?”. The roundtable presented evidence on rural women’s entrepreneurship promotion programmes and related policy measures in the MENA region.

  3. Jobs and Skills Mismatch – Job-rich growth for Sustainable Development

    On 27-28 November 2017, the Employment Policy Department will bring together researchers, policy-makers, practitioners and other stakeholders to review and discuss on-going research on demand for jobs and bottlenecks in developed and developing countries.

  4. Egypt Entrepreneurship Summit 2017: Opening a whole World of Opportunities

    Under the auspices of the Ministry of International Cooperation, the ILO Cairo Office and the Middle East Council for Small Businesses and Entrepreneurship (MCSBE) will hold the third annual Egypt Entrepreneurship Summit in Hurghada from 15 to 18 November 2017, titled "Opening a whole World of Opportunities".

    The event is organised by DWT/CO–Cairo: ILO DWT for North Africa and Country Office for Egypt and Eritrea through ILO Project “Decent Jobs for Egypt’s Young People” (DJEP) financed by Global Affairs Canada (GAC) in collaboration with: International Training Centre of the ILO, Arab Academy for Science and Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), ILO Green Jobs Programme, ILO Offices and DWT in the Arab States and North Africa.

  1. Evaluating Labour Market Programmes: Policy Forum & Executive Course

    As part of ILO’s partnership with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the IFAD financed project “Strengthening gender monitoring and evaluation in rural employment in the Near East and North Africa”, a Policy Forum and Executive Course on Evaluating Labour Market Programmes was offered between the 2nd and 6th of July 2017 in Amman, Jordan. The course was co-financed by the OECD Development Centre, the International Initiative for Impact Evaluation, GIZ and the Economic Research Forum.
