Provides an operational focus to the Global Employment Agenda adopted by the ILO’s Governing Body in March 2003 as the employment component of the Decent Work Programmes. Describes the main components of employment strategies: the basic concepts, the six key policy areas and ILO tools. Discusses the main implementation challenges and reviews some processes that the ILO’s Employment Sector has recently put in place or is strengthening to achieve better focus, improve performance and promote continuous learning and knowledge management on employment issues.
